Mobility Justice Advocacy Summit

Mobility Justice Advocacy Summit

Join us for the 3rd Annual Mobility Justice Advocacy Summit, hosted by Yay Bikes! in partnership with Transit Columbus. The 2025 summit will bring together Central Ohio advocates, professionals, and community members to advance a shared vision for a safe, equitable, sustainable, and environmentally-friendly multimodal transportation system for those who walk, bike, roll, and ride public transit. The summit will be an opportunity to learn from decision makers and take a step toward a connected, coordinated, and effective Mobility Justice Coalition.

The event takes place Sunday, October 5, from 1:30pm-4:30pm at the Main Library in downtown Columbus. The program will feature a moderated panel with leaders from COTA, Franklin County, and the City of Columbus, followed by facilitated breakout sessions where participants will work together on a SWOT analysis and map spheres of influence to inform future advocacy.

Free and open to the public, the summit offers space for up to 50 participants, so advance registration is encouraged to reserve your spot.

Together, we can strengthen collaboration, share resources, and create the momentum needed to make Central Ohio a place where everyone can move safely, comfortably, and sustainably.

Advocacy Training: Collecting & Telling Transit Stories (In Person)

Advocacy Training: Collecting & Telling Transit Stories (In Person)

Facts and data are important, but their impact only get us so far without real-life examples and narratives to humanize the issues. As advocates, we need to be able to tell our stories to illustrate our challenges, shift narratives, and bring attention to issues that transit riders, pedestrians, and bicyclists face every day.

In these trainings, we will discuss the importance of narratives in advocacy and you will learn key elements to telling and effective story. You will also learn how to collect stories from other transit riders and get a chance to practice and ask questions before trying it out in the real world. Finally, we will discuss concrete ways to leverage these stories in our advocacy.

Transit & Housing Discussion w/City Council Members

We’ve heard how council district 7 candidates plan to shape the future of transportation and housing in Columbus if elected; now let’s hear from the three Columbus City Council members who are up for re-election this year.

Join us as we discuss transit and housing with city council members Chris Wyche (District 1), Rob Dorans (District 3), and Emmanuel Remy (District 4). Each is running un-opposed for re-election in November. As we won’t be able to test them at the ballot box, we’ll take this opportunity to examine their track records and discuss their plans for transit and housing policy moving forward.

Registration is free but space is limited - register here to save your spot.

Agenda:

6:45 - Doors Open
7:00 - Intro and Welcome
7:10 - Panel Discussion moderated by TC board members D’Laveance Bert-Sims and Gillian Desormeaux

Discussion on Transit & Housing with City Council District 7 Candidates

In lieu of our normal April meeting, we’ll be hosting a discussion on transit and housing with district 7 city council candidates.

The Columbus region is growing rapidly, and good transit and housing policy and implementation are critical to ensuring that that growth benefits Columbus communities rather than making life more difficult. Registration is free but space is limited - you must register to save your spot.

Hosted by: Transit Columbus, Yay Bikes!, Strong Towns Columbus, Central Ohio Worker Center, All Aboard Ohio, Downtown Residents Association of Columbus (DRAC), Neighbors for More Neighbors Columbus
