October 20 • 1:30 - 3pm

People love functioning bus and train transit service. So why isn’t it more common?? For Transit 101, Shay and participants will delve into Power—who has it and how it is used to drive people, literally and figuratively, from dependable public services to sprawling, hot, paved, expensive and isolating single-occupancy vehicle life.
*Both dates will cover the same material - you do not need to attend both
Attend if you:
Are new to transit and mobility advocacy and just want to know how to get started
Have been an advocate for a while, but want to get a better foundation
Have been an advocate on other issues, but want to learn more about transit advocacy specifically
Do not plan to be involved in advocacy long term, but are dealing with a specific issue in your neighborhood and want to understand how to help solve the problem
September 29 • 1:30 - 3pm
Parsons Library - Meeting Room 1
In 101, we chatted about why we want to make change and committing to do so—now what? Any successful text bank, phone bank, rally, public comment, demonstration or action has some common hallmarks. We will discuss planning an outreach strategy and how to put it into practice!
*You do not have to attend 101 to attend this training!
Attend if you:
Are interested in getting out into your community, raising awareness, and building a larger movement.
Are focused on a specific issue in your neighborhood and want to be more effective at organizing your neighbors around a solution.
November 17 • 1:30 - 3pm
Location TBD
For decades, the state of Ohio has under invested in public transit, by its own accounts, by hundreds of millions of dollars. Our communities need that funding to support transit improvements and to help secure matching federal funding for major projects or service. We build on what we learned in 101 as we plan for the 2025 Ohio State Budget, and make a plan to bring Ohioans transit investment they long deserve.
*You do not have to attend 101 to attend this training!
Attend if you:
Are interested in pursuing statewide policy changes to help unlock transit and mobility advocacy efforts across the state.
Are interested in advocating for both inner-city and inter-city transit, such as commuter and passenger rail.
Are interested in learning more about the policy and public finance side of advocacy.
